Materials made up of large molecules called polymers, made up of chains of atoms.
Composed mainly of carbon, and other elements such as hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen or sulfur. These large macromolecules are made up of monomers, (Polymer = Macromolecule).
Various applications; transport, packaging, construction, lighting…
Thermoplastics: They are easily disassembled by heat and rebuild when cooled. Good capacity for recycling.
Thermostable: They break down with heat before the plastic melts, they can only be melted and made once. Low recyclability.
Elastomers: They are a type of thermosetting (they can only be melted once), and thanks to their internal structure they have a high degree of elasticity.
