Viton® is a brand of FKM (Fluoroelastomer), a synthetic rubber elastomer and fluoropolymer commonly used in O-rings, and other molded or extruded products. The name is a registered trademark of The Chemours Company.

Although Viton® can sometimes be distinguished from other types of rubber by its color, often green or brown, a more reliable test is its density of more than 1,800kg/m3, significantly higher than most types of rubber.

Fluorinated rubbers have an extraordinary resistance to temperature, continuously +250ºC without losing their mechanical properties. Intermittently up to 300°C.

It offers excellent resistance to acids, bases, aliphatic hydrocarbons, oils, ozone, steam and a large number of corrosive applications, although it is not suitable for amines, esters, ketones and steam. In addition to being self-extinguishing (it does not spread the flame).

With Certified according to the UL94 fire resistance standard, class V0, and suitable for contact with food according to the FDA standard.
